Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is an ancient primeval rainforest spanning 321 square kilometers of rugged southwestern Uganda. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bwindi holds over 459 endangered mountain gorillas across its four habituated sectors (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo). Walking beneath the dense emerald canopy to come face-to-face with a 400-pound silverback is universally regarded as Earth's premier wildlife encounter.
